  • Dr.
    Reffell, O.D., MHA MBA
Dr. Massala Reffell grew up in Houston, Texas. He attended Prairie View A&M University where he met Dr. Brown who gave him two beautiful children. He went on the obtain his doctorate at The Ohio State University to become a board certified optometrist.

Dr. Reffell practiced in Ohio briefly before returning to his homeland of Texas to do residency at the Eye Center of Texas; a tertiary care center where he worked with general ophthalmology, a retinal specialist and corneal specialist. After sharpening his skills in preoperative and postoperative care in LASIK, cataract and ocular disease management, he joined an ophthalmology practice in Dallas. Dr. Reffell used this time to broaden his skills and worked as with a small company doing nursing home eye care. Always looking to improve and challenge himself, he opened up a commercial practice at a Sam’s Club cold.

While building his practice and patient volume, Dr. Reffell decided to further his education, by going to graduate school part-time, Attending the University of Texas at Arlington, he acquired a Masters in Health Administration and subsequent Masters in Business

Once his degrees were completed, he used his extra time to build up his practice while returning to nursing home eye care with the prestigious company Healthdrive. In two years, with the help of his trusted employees, Dr. Reffell acquired over 30 contracts with various
nursing homes and turned the stagnant Dallas market around.

Thereafter, a very successful doctor with five eye clinics in Suffolk County New York contacted Dr. Reffell and asked him to join and help further build what his father had started decades earlier. Always wanting to help and expand, to the dismay of many of his
loyal patients, Dr. Reffell decided to join Sound Vision Care moving with his family and most trusted employee and her family to Long Island. Although Dr. Reffell never envision leaving Texas, he hopes to add sound vision care to the already successful team of doctors and staff.
